What is Vermeil
There are a lot of confused faces when we talk about the jewellery being 3 Micron Gold Vermeil or 2 Micron Gold Vermeil, what does this Vermeil mean and more importantly how the hell do you pronounce it?
Ok, well firstly its pronounce it 'ver-may' and its the beauty and durability of gold that we all love without the pricey pricetag. All of our jewellery here at Anna Design starts out as ethically and sustainably sourced, recycled Sterling Silver. This is the base of each piece. The silver gives a weightier feel and a high end finish. After the design is done and created using a mould or by hand it is then layered with a thick 2 - 3 microns of real gold to give each piece durability and long lasting beauty. This is done through electrolysis (an electrical current ) which creates a rich looking piece of jewellery, at a fraction of the cost that is layered to last.
This is why we love making our designs in gold plate. We swim, bathe, sleep and wear our gold every day and it retains its lustre and appeal.
